General Theory 1-13-26
The town of gloaming is inundated with the Fae. Everything links back to Fae lore such as the links from Fig using Europa’s Fairy Tales (https://www.gloamingcounty.com/down-down) the videos from the scribe (https://youtu.be/DX8kw0vYBRA?si=SHr3LbJsNxL2smAw) and even the books on Shelly’s bookshelf (https://shellyfennel.tumblr.com/post/775393632226312192/i-have-been-reading-copiously-to-pass-the-time-i) Then there are the time slips (https://violetegress.tumblr.com/post/791162179273572352/time-slips), like that’s just falling into the Fae realm that description is right out of Fae lore (I think this is also why Shelly’s body seemed to have decayed for years). it all leads back to the Fae.
Fig is a fae creature but not the queen which we know because of the story (https://violetegress.tumblr.com/post/795235063934631936/lamb-eyes-ii) from violet about the Well incident.
Does anyone know when she went missing? I thought it might be in 2013.
Since Violette is called the “child of the rotting queen” (https://imgur.com/a/BpE4ECE also note that the post is from 2013 a very important year from what we’ve seen) and we know she is the child of Winona from the Halloween takeover. Winona was taken to be consumed/become to Fae queen. Maybe, her taking was instrumented and then covered by the Reverend as they have a history of “picking targets” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ojt2HvLKq1g) one of whom I think was Winona and potentially Shelly.
Anyways, I think that maybe there is something in her bloodline that has an affinity for the Fae and that the Fae wants her for something like being the next Fae queen. The implication of a rotting queen might mean that there needs to be a replacement, that or that simply they are associated with the rot which is quite obvious given the symptoms from the symptoms page are basically Fae warning signs (https://www.gloamingcounty.com/symptoms) what I find interesting about the symptoms of the rot are that the Unexplained noises show up twice with “singing or s…” having 14 responses and “choir music…” having 2. I am very interested on what that difference is. There seems to be a physical rot that has to be removed though, so maybe it’s a sickness. With the code from Trail Cams (TAPE 5: TRAIL CAMS - WELCOME TO GLOAMING COUNTY) using “it hurts” and “we are rotting” maybe the things consumed by the rot become thralls of the Fae as the deer walkers? I got a bit off topic.
I just don’t understand why Fig would have pulled her back up from the well and then apologize to the Queen if it was the Queen who told Fig to not drop violet. Unless there is some underlying motive for Fig to not drop Violet (because it definitely was not emotional attachment given how Fig speaks of her in certain posts such as the super secret blog), I think Violet might have influenced Fig. What if she has some kind of power or influence over the Fae and that’s why she was able to interact with Fig for so long without being consumed. Violet’s mother from 8 5 9 18 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rTeB4jdZ44) specifically mentions for Violet to not be afraid of ‘them’ and that she is the heir. The Scribe says in the FairytaleRead along video (https://youtu.be/DX8kw0vYBRA?si=yk41aDLOoimIIUAg) that the Egresses, as in the bloodline?, are forever falling down rabbit holes of their own design. Maybe she wasn’t “ready” to become the next Queen and Fig was apologizing for pushing her too soon. I really don’t know what to think about this.
In addition I think that there is some kind of ancient accord with the Fae since during 2013 there was a legendarily good harvest (https://imgur.com/a/nGSyU8K) if this was the year that Winona went missing - though I am unsure of that - then that could be the reason that the Fae take people and “want more”. I think that there is a connection to the agriculture of the town and the Fae, maybe the introduction of a new Queen allowed for the nature in the area to thrive. A lot of the hidden text in the news pages reference harvests.
Also there is whatever is going on in the water. This could be connected to the agricultural benefits thing in which the Fae are messing with the water potentially to effect the agriculture. I think the idea of the Well being a vessel of the Queen (https://violetegress.tumblr.com/post/795235063934631936/lamb-eyes-ii) is a good indication of the connection between the Fae and the water. In addition The Scribe’s entire video on the Gator Grotto video which lambasts the archive on their redaction of parts of the video on the archive channel specifically mentions “It’s in the pipes, a disease with many arms and legs” (of note is the video within the pipes dated 03/12/2008 or 2006 I am unsure since it its blurry, this can be seen at time stamp 0:10) (https://youtu.be/Tj6a3yLeU6M?si=y8T02sBG_iHFzSDQ) I think there is absolutely something wrong with the drinking water and it has to do with the Fae, specifically what is unknown but again I posit it being agricultural or just infecting the town and strengthening the towns connection to the Fae (don’t eat Fae food style).
Extending on this: Who is The Scribe? From the photo google drive link (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tLa4NLuZD1BWfLZ1UzHAhviW0I1Z0b3c/view) on the LulaRay’s diner page (https://lularays.carrd.co) it refers to the coffee as escape. But in the super secret blog post Fig states in an alt text that “he sleeps in the bottom of your coffee cup” among other ominous statements (https://super-specialsecretblog.tumblr.com/post/778142018366062592). These seem to be conflicting at first but, if you think about the Fae and Fig’s connection to dreams it makes sense. Dreams seem to be a way for the Fae to influence an individual from the fairy tale read along (https://youtu.be/DX8kw0vYBRA?si=yk41aDLOoimIIUAg) and when your coffee cup is empty you won’t be able to drink more and stay awake to escape Fig’s grasp. I could be reaching here though, but it seems like The Scribe has a good handle on what exactly is going on in Gloaming.
Anyways I think my next goal will be trying to piece together a timeline because tis very difficult to put together a story. Maybe once I make a timeline I’ll speculate on when the “bad gateways” to the Fae were opened and things like that from the references on Violet’s YouTube channel and blog posts.
